About Centro de Investigaciones Agronómicas

The Centro de Investigaciones Agronómicas (CIA) belongs to the School of Agri-food Sciences of the University of Costa Rica. In 2015, it has been a research center that has contributed to the development of the agricultural science of the country for 60 years.

The Agronomy Research Center (known by its Spanish acronym, CIA) of the University of Costa Rica is an unit where the professional of different areas of agronomy share a space for the research of several topics related to the Plants and Soil Fertility, Agricultural Biotechnology, Biochemistry of Organic Soil Processes, Agricultural Microbiology, Postharvest Technology, and the study of Natural Resources. It offers services such as the analyses of soils, plant tissues, fertilizers, organic fertilizers, and other materials as well as consultancies to various organizations and companies in different parts of the country.
